Formal meeting. A meeting of the members of a non-profit called for a stated purpose. There are notice requirements for general meetings in the Societies Act. General meetings are usually called either an annual general meeting (AGM) or a special general meeting (SGM). At general meetings, members may vote on any special resolutions changing the bylaws, receive financial statements, and elect directors. Non-profits in BC must hold an AGM at least once per calendar year, except in the first year of incorporation.
